Skoda has provided a sneak peek of the upcoming Octavia facelift, set to make its official debut in February. The teaser hints at the first design update for the current iteration of the premium sedan, initially revealed in 2019.
Design Enhancements and Features
From the teaser, it’s evident that the Octavia will showcase revised LED headlights with an updated DRL layout. Anticipated upgrades include a redesigned grille, fresh alloys, and tweaked LED tail lamps and bumpers. The Czech carmaker, Skoda, has been actively testing the updated sedan, suggesting a comprehensive facelift.
Inside the cabin, major changes to the dashboard layout are not expected. However, Skoda may introduce tweaks to the color scheme and upholstery for a refreshed look. Feature additions are also likely, enhancing the Octavia’s well-loaded package.
Powertrain Continuity with a Sporty Twist
Under the hood, the Octavia is expected to retain its current powertrain options, including turbo-petrol, diesel, mild- and plug-in hybrid choices depending on the market. The Indian variant, prior to being discontinued, featured a robust 190 PS 2-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Additionally, the Octavia is poised to make a comeback in its sportier RS model. The RS version is anticipated to house a hybrid powertrain, marking one of Skoda’s initial forays into electrified models in the Indian market. Importantly, the RS model might carry a higher price tag, approximately Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), considering its potential status as a fully imported model.
Expectations for Indian Market
For Indian consumers, the Octavia’s return is a notable development. With its sportier RS variant featuring a hybrid powertrain, Skoda aims to align with the growing demand for environmentally conscious and high-performance vehicles in the region.
