In the busy car market of January 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire stood out as the leader in sedan sales. This popular model secured the top spot by selling an impressive 16,773 cars, showing a significant increase of 48% compared to the same period last year. This performance was even better than its sales in December 2023, where it sold 14,012 units, marking a notable 20% growth.

The Hyundai Aura claimed the second position, maintaining its spot from the previous month, with 5,516 cars sold in January 2024. It experienced a respectable year-on-year increase of 19%. However, it’s worth noting a slight decrease from its sales in December 2023 when 3,812 units were sold.
The Honda Amaze faced a tough start to the year, witnessing a 47% year-on-year decline in sales. It dropped from 5,580 cars in January 2023 to 2,972 units in January 2024. Despite this, it remains a notable contender in the sedan market, holding the third position.
A surprising change in rankings occurred with the Hyundai Verna claiming the fourth spot, selling 2,172 cars in January 2024. It experienced a remarkable year-on-year increase of 118%. This surge positioned it ahead of the Volkswagen Virtus and removed the Honda City from the list of top-selling cars.
The Volkswagen Virtus maintained a steady performance, securing the fifth position by selling 1,879 cars in January 2024, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 17%. The model continues to attract consumers with its features and design.

The sixth and seventh positions saw a swap compared to December 2023 sales. The Tata Tigor, which held the sixth position in December, dropped to the seventh place in January 2024, with 1,539 cars sold, marking a year-on-year decline of 50%. Meanwhile, the Skoda Slavia, previously at the seventh place, moved up to the sixth position, selling 1,242 cars in January 2024.
