Get ready for some good news! The Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV is making its way to India sooner than expected. Suzuki Motor Corp’s President, Toshihiro Suzuki, shared at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 that the eVX would roll out from Suzuki’s Gujarat plant by the end of this year.
Suzuki mentioned, “The first battery electric vehicle from Suzuki Global will come from Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year. We plan to sell this model not only in India but also export it to Japan and European countries.”
Interesting point: The eVX will be made in India and sent to other countries, using locally made parts for the engine and battery. This decision aims to take advantage of India’s strong manufacturing capabilities.
The Maruti Suzuki eVX, a smaller electric SUV like the Grand Vitara, will face off with rivals like the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV. It was first shown as a concept at Auto Expo 2023 and later evolved at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.
At Auto Expo 2023, the eVX concept boasted dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 60kWh battery pack, giving it an impressive range of 550km. Experts predict that there will also be a version with a single-motor front-wheel drive, similar to its Toyota counterpart.
The speedier launch of the Maruti Suzuki eVX is excellent news for fans of electric vehicles. With Maruti Suzuki’s big network of service and sales, the eVX, as their first electric model, could shake up the EV market, where Tata currently leads.
When it comes to cost, insiders suggest the Maruti Suzuki eVX might start at just under Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a strong contender in the growing electric vehicle market.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting debut as Maruti Suzuki gets ready to make a mark in the Indian electric vehicle scene with the eVX.
