Did you hear the news about Honda recalling more than 750,000 vehicles in the United States? The reason behind it is a problem with the front passenger air bags.

The recall affects certain models from 2020 to 2022, including Honda Pilot, Accord, Civic sedan, HR-V, Odyssey, Fit, and Civic Coupe. Also, some 2021 and 2022 models like Civic hatchback, Civic Type R, Insight, CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, Passport, Ridgeline, and Accord Hybrid are included. For Acura, the 2020 and 2022 MDX, 2020-2022 RDX, and 2020-2021 TLX are part of the recall.
The issue is with the front passenger seat weight sensor. This sensor may crack and short circuit, causing the air bags to inflate even when they shouldn’t. These sensors are essential for turning off the air bag when children or small adults are in the seats, preventing unnecessary inflation and reducing the risk of injury.

According to documents from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Honda has received 3,834 warranty claims related to this issue. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths from this problem between June 30, 2020, and January 19, 2024.
Honda will fix the problem for free by replacing the faulty seat sensors. If you own one of the affected vehicles, you will be notified about the recall starting March 18. It’s essential to address this issue promptly to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.
