Bollywood Stars Rally for Lakshadweep and Indian Islands: #ExploreIndia

In a recent turn of events, several Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and John Abraham, have taken to social media to promote domestic tourism and encourage their fans to explore Indian islands such as Lakshadweep for their next vacation. This push for domestic travel follows a controversial remark made by a Maldivian politician mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the Lakshadweep archipelago and endorsing Indian islands.

Akshay Kumar, who recently enjoyed a family vacation in the Maldives, expressed his surprise at prominent figures from the Maldives making hateful and racist comments about Indians. Kumar urged Indians to support their own tourism, stating, “We are good to our neighbors, but why should we tolerate such unprovoked hate? Let us decide to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism.”

Shraddha Kapoor, sharing a picture of the picturesque beaches of Lakshadweep, expressed her FOMO (fear of missing out) and encouraged others to consider exploring the beauty of Indian islands. She said, “Lakshadweep has such pristine beaches and coastlines, thriving local culture. This year, why not #ExploreIndianIslands.”

Salman Khan took to Twitter to appreciate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the clean and stunning beaches of Lakshadweep, emphasizing that these islands are within India. He tweeted, “It is so cool to see our Hon PM Narendrabhai Modi at the beautiful clean and stunning beaches of Lakshadweep, and the best part is that yeh hamare India mein hain (these islands are in India). @narendramodi.”

John Abraham, promoting tourism in Indian islands, highlighted the incredible Indian hospitality, the concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (the guest is God), and the vast marine life in Lakshadweep. He said, “With the amazing Indian hospitality, the idea of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ and a vast marine life to explore, Lakshadweep is the place to go. #exploreindianislands.”

The push for promoting Indian islands gained momentum after a Maldivian politician, Zahid Rameez, mocked Indians and questioned their ability to compete with the Maldives in terms of tourism. Rameez’s comments triggered a social media storm, with the hashtag “#BoycottMaldives” trending as many criticized his remarks.

As Bollywood stars continue to advocate for exploring the beauty of Indian islands, the controversy has shed light on the significance of promoting domestic tourism and celebrating the diverse landscapes within India.
