Young Indian Stars Shine: Rohit Sharma Praises Them in a Cool Way as ‘Yeh Aajkal ke Bacche

In a thrilling third Test at Rajkot, Team India clinched an impressive 434-run victory against England, and the spotlight was on the rising stars – Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener, stole the limelight with his second double century (214 not out), setting a formidable 557-run target for England.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, acknowledging the brilliance of these young talents, took to Instagram with a special caption: ‘Yeh Aajkal ke bacche’ (These kids nowadays).

At a mere 22 years, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the third youngest player to achieve two Test double centuries, joining the ranks of Vinod Kambli and Don Bradman. He also became the third Indian, after Kambli and Virat Kohli, to hit 200s in two successive Tests. Jaiswal’s innings featured an impressive 12 sixes, matching Wasim Akram’s record for the most in a single innings. Throughout the series, he smashed 22 sixes, setting a new record for the most in a Test series.

Making a stellar debut, Sarfaraz Khan became the fourth Indian to score twin half-centuries on Test debut. His aggressive style was evident as he scored 62 runs off 66 balls in the first innings and an unbeaten 68 off 72 balls in the second innings.
