Exciting news for cricket fans as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Rishabh Pant is fit and ready to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on March 22. However, the fast-bowling pair of Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna won’t be participating due to injuries.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, is making a comeback after a 14-month recovery from a serious accident in December 2022. The BCCI stated that Pant is fit as a wicket-keeper batter for IPL 2024, and he has played some practice games to prepare for Delhi Capital’s opening match against Punjab Kings on March 23.
A fit Pant is crucial for the Indian team, especially looking ahead to the ICC T20 World Cup in June. BCCI secretary Jay Shah highlighted Pant’s significance, expressing hope that he would play a key role in the T20 World Cup.
On the flip side, fast bowler Mohammed Shami, absent since the ODI World Cup last year due to a heel injury, underwent surgery in February. Despite a successful surgery, Shami will miss IPL 2024, and the BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his recovery.

Having undergone surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon, Krishna will also be absent from IPL 2024. The BCCI Medical Team will oversee his recovery and rehab at the National Cricket Academy.
