Google Adds New Features to Pixel 8 Pro in January Update

Google has just rolled out its latest feature drop for the Pixel 8 series, bringing some cool additions to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect from the January update:

Circle to Search Feature:

Starting January 31, Pixel 8 series owners can enjoy the Circle to Search feature. Similar to what’s on the Galaxy S24 series, you can long-press the navigation bar or home button, and then circle, scribble, or highlight images and text on the screen to initiate a search without leaving the app.

Thermometer Sensor Upgrade for Pixel 8 Pro:

Pixel 8 Pro users now have a new option in the thermometer app, allowing them to record their body temperature. This “medical-grade” feature enables users to record the body temperatures of anyone. However, you can choose to store your personal records using the Fitbit app. Keep in mind that this feature is exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro and is not available on the standard Pixel 8 or older models.

Magic Compose with Gemini Nano AI:

Pixel 8 Pro introduces Magic Compose, powered by Google’s on-device Gemini Nano AI model. Users can select from four different writing styles – Chill, Excited, Formal, and Shakespearean.

Photomoji Feature for All Pixel Phones:

The Photomoji feature is now available on all currently supported Pixel phones. This allows you to transform photos on your phone into emojis that you can use for message reactions.

Quick Share (Formerly Nearby Share):

Google has rebranded the Nearby Share feature to Quick Share with this update. This change aligns with a feature offered by Samsung, and it will roll out to all Android smartphones in the future.

Seamless Device Switching for Pixel Watch 2:

For owners of the Pixel Watch 2 using Pixel Buds Pro, Google promises seamless switching between their devices for a more integrated experience.
